Teddy Bear Hospital is a subcommittee of the Cambridge University Paediatric Society,
and is part of a national scheme that runs TBH events for primary school children.
The broad aims of the Teddy Bear Hospital Scheme are:
- To reduce anxiety and provide education about healthcare to 4-7 year olds in a fun environment.
- To provide opportunities for medical students to improve their communication skills with children.
- To encourage medical students to consider the possibility of a career in paediatrics.
We run regular events for primary school children who act as mini-doctors for their poorly teddies! These budding young Teddy Doctors come with their teddies, to find out what's wrong with them as they take teddy around the Teddy Hospital stations.
Our volunteer expert Teddy Doctors help run our TBH events and are assigned various stations, teaching children about healthcare and medicine.
